London was in full force during fashion week with buyers, bloggers, journalists and the other all important bods in the business flocking to Somerset House in search for the hottest trends for next season. Interested to see what was going on, I headed out with the Canon in one hand and Smythson in the other to speak with designers on their collections and inspiration for the season ahead.

Here are the highlights…

Wanting to create a collection that embodied the attitude and sexiness of his homeland Brazil, Fernando Jorge explained he often explores different stones and shapes to create tactile, fluid collections. Using various shades of green for A/W, the collection is fresh and organic which is largely due to the inspiration the designer takes from nature.

Showcasing an array of irregular, interesting pieces, the Imogen Belfield collection immediately caught my eye. The bronzed, gilted, and silvered toned jewellery is all hand crafted meaning no two pieces are the same.

Inspired by surroundings and architecture, the designer explained the collection resembles rock formations and an array of shooting stars which was inspired by the Natural History Museum.

Although Shourouk Rhaiem was not available to speak with, Valery Demure showcased nothing less than a beautiful collection by the designer. Remaining true to her signature rainbow bright use of colour, Shourouk used Swarovski crystals and neon enamel stones combined with PVC and rope to create an intricate and contrasting collection.

The colour palette was muted compared to what we have seen over the past seasons with more use of creamier pastels interspersed with vivid emerald and sapphire toned stones.

Here’s the best of the rest…
